The main component of human communication is language, which as a property of the human being is externalized by speaking, listening, reading and writing. Language, as a typically human process, allows the sharing of knowledge, experiences and thoughts among people. Speech, on the other hand, due to its singular and universal characteristic, is considered the noblest of human capacities and, although it can be confused as a synonym for language, it is actually one of its manifestations. It is known that the process of acquisition and development of language and speech depends on appropriate neurobiological and environmental conditions  (SBFa).

That is, this area works with aspects that involve oral and written communication, in terms of understanding and expression. Its development takes place from childhood to adulthood, so the speech therapist will work with all ages and characteristics (such as, for example,  people who have had a stroke and have sequelae in the language as a whole).
